Turkey Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's party wins again…..

Turkey s ruling AK Party was on course to win a resounding victory in Sunday s parliamentary election, having won 56 percent of the vote with 21 percent of the votes counted, according to state rum media.

Opinion polls had suggested Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan s AK Party would take between 45 and 50 pct of the vote this time. The centre-left CHP was on 18 percent while the nationalist MHP was on 12 percent, exceeding the 10 percent threshold required for parties to enter parliament, the media said.
A Muslim democracy and candidate for the European Union, Turkey has become an economic powerhouse and influential player on the global stage since Erdogan s AK Party swept to power in 2002.
The prime minister needs more than a simple majority to be certain of pushing through plans for a new constitution to replace one written in 1982, two years after a military coup.
