Inter has announced that Gian Piero Gasperini will be its new coach as the 53-year-old has signed a two-year deal, the club said via a statement on Friday.
After plenty of speculation surrounding who would come in and number of high-profile names have been linked with the role since it emerged earlier this month that Leonardo was set to leave to become sporting director at Paris St Germain.
The final details of Gasperini s contract have yet to be completed but Inter have now announced that he is to become the club’s fourth manager in little more than a year.
A statement from Inter read: “It will be Gian Piero Gasperini to become Inter’s new coach.
INTER MILAN PRESIDENT MASSIMO MORATTI, WHO IS ABROAD ON BUSINESS, HAS WELCOMED GASPERINI S SELECTION..
Moratti said on the club’s official website: “I am fully satisfied with the choice.I wish Gasperini all the success that has taken Inter to become Club World champions.”
Gasperini led Genoa to promotion from the second division in 2007 and qualification for the Europa League with a fifth-placed finish in Serie A in 2009.Gasperini returns to coaching for the first time since November when he was sacked by Genoa. He won promotion with his former club in 2007 as he guided them back to Serie A.
